Object / Tactile Communication

Supporting and encouraging all methods of communication is so important.  With the many pictures and visual supports out there, it can be a little tricky to determine how to exactly support those students with vision difficulties.  It is very important that we use different modalities such as touch to help these students have access to a schedule and corewords, just as their seeing classmates have.

Tactile Corewords

The presentation will have more instructions on how to create the visual schedules seen above.  They are not difficult to make and nearly all material used to make them can be easily found at school or from other popular retail places.

corewords

Tactile Corewords were created using a 3d printer and the symbols created from Project Core (please click here to learn more about Project Core).  If you are interested in learning more about 3d printing and how to get a set of 3d printed corewords, please contact Sara Palmer, Speech and Language Therapist at Salvin SEC.
